The Women & Infants Infusion Center, located in the Bernard & Ina Wasserman Family Building, provides more than 6,000 chemotherapy and other infusion treatments each year. When the Infusion Center was originally designed, the space was adequate to accommodate the patient volume and technology needs. However, as patient volumes have increased and technology and other requirements have changed, additional space was needed to provide an optimal patient experience. Patients had limited privacy in the prior setting, and there was not always adequate space for caregivers who wanted to be with their loved ones during treatment.
Vision 3 Architects worked collaboratively with hospital staff to bring to reality their vision of a non clinical space designed to promote a soothing, healing environment. Vision 3 utilized an evidence based design approach, incorporating various elements to decrease patient anxiety, reduce stress, and create a satisfying spa-like experience.
The 8,700 s.f. Infusion Center includes private infusion areas, based on the latest ergonomic design theory; double infusion rooms for patients and their caregivers accompanying their loved ones during treatment; expanded consultation space; and a relaxed and healing environment
