Johnson and Wales University: Red Sauce and Starbucks

“The staff, faculty and most importantly, the students, fully enjoys the new dining facilities. All aspects of the project certainly went as well as could be expected, and at times, exceeded our expectations. Thank you for helping us complete this project as a success, keeping up with our very streamlined schedule. We are looking forward to working with Vision 3 in the future.”
– Brian Lanoie, Facilities Manager, Johnson & Wales University

When Johnson & Wales University needed to reimage their Harborside Academic Center dining facility, they turned to Vision 3 Architects to design a “contemporary rustic” space where students would want to eat, work and relax between classes. The new dining concept, built during summer break, features a mix of seating styles, stone walls, unique light fixtures and splashes of color. Cooking activities are on display and students watch as their peers prepare meals. Flat screen monitors, used as menu boards, give staff flexibility in promotion of ever-changing menu offerings.

“Red Sauce” creates what the University was looking for… that WOW! factor, and a whole new identity for the dining experience at the Harborside Campus.

Additionally, Vision 3 incorporated the Starbucks prototype model into the construction documents for the interior renovations. The prototype model complements the rustic space of Red Sauce across the hall.
